First, choose the challenge that is right for you. Start your application online by clicking the ‘Apply Now’ button The shortlisting takes place in mid-January. Past winners, board and staff make up the shortlisting team. Each application is read three times. Successful participants will be notified in March. They will be invited to attend one of the two Explore Induction Days (Cork, Thursday 5th of April 2018 – Dublin, Saturday 7th of April 2018) to formalise the acceptance of the awards. They can then start preparing for their travel abroad and work on their Action at Home outline. Prior to departure, Explorers must attend this informative workshop covering topics such as: Challenges of living in a foreign country Health & safety Putting the learnings & experience from your time abroad to good use in Ireland Off you go! With Action at Home and Pre-Departure workshop info in mind, participants depart for their respective locations to fulfil the Travel phase of their award. An important workshop upon return, where participants reflect on their own experiences and hear the stories from other parts of the world. Also an opportunity to get guidance and support with your Action Project. Submit your completed Action at Home in October for review and certification. Successful Action Projects are published on the website. All Action at Home are reviewed and assessed by the EIL Explore team. Successful participants receive certification for their achievement in November at our national network weekend. Congratulations you have completed your EIL Explore journey!
